Bungkus & Hantar

Take It Away,
or Have It Sent

There is no basket on this page and no card form. Everything leaves the same counter it always has, so we would rather point you at the channel that actually gets your food to you fastest — the two apps we are listed on, or a message straight to the person standing at the till.

Every packed order leaves the counter sealed with a halal tamper tag, whether a rider or you are carrying it.

GrabFood and foodpanda are independent companies. Once an order is in their app, the rider, the fee and any refund are handled by them — we only cook and pack it.

App prices are not our prices

Said plainly, before you order

Menu prices in GrabFood and foodpanda are set higher than our counter prices. The apps take a commission on every order, and we do not have the margin on a RM 8.50 nasi lemak to absorb it. What you see on this site, and on the board above the counter, is the dine-in and collection price.

Delivery fees, small-order fees and any promotion are decided by the app, not by us. We cannot apply a partner voucher over the phone, and we cannot refund an app order from the warung — that has to go through their support so the rider is paid properly.

Radius is the app's too. GrabFood reaches about 10km around Simpang Ampat and foodpanda about 8km, which covers Batu Kawan, Bukit Tambun, Nibong Tebal and Sungai Bakap. If you sit outside it, collection is the only honest option.

Packing honestly

Not everything survives the ride

Forty years of bungkus has taught us which dishes improve in a box and which ones we would quietly talk you out of. Here is both lists, unedited.

Travels well

Rendang, gulai and asam pedas

Slow-cooked gravies are better after twenty minutes in a box than they are straight off the stove. Order these without a second thought.

Nasi lemak bungkus

Wrapped in banana leaf and paper the way it has been since 1984. The leaf keeps the rice from sweating, which a plastic box does not.

Ayam goreng berempah

We pack it unlidded for the first few minutes so the crust does not steam itself soft, then close the box just before the rider takes it.

Kuih muih and bubur

Travels perfectly. The kuih platter is the one thing we would send to Nibong Tebal without hesitating.

Ask us to pack it apart

Roti canai

It goes soft in a sealed box within ten minutes. We bag the roti loose and the dhal separately, but it will never be what it is at the griddle. Eat this one at the warung if you can.

Laksa Utara and Curry Mee

Broth in one bag, noodles and garnish in another, assembled at your table. Say so in the order notes and the counter will do it without being asked twice.

Cendol Tasek

Shaved ice does not survive a motorcycle. We send the gula melaka, santan and cendol in a sealed cup and leave you to add ice, or skip it entirely on a long run.

Ulam-ulaman and sambal belacan

Raw herbs wilt against anything warm, so they ride in their own container away from the rice.

A mound of coconut rice opened out on a banana leaf, topped with dark red sambal tumis and a piece of meat in gravy, a white spoon set alongside.
Ordering for a crowd

Twenty packets and up

Twenty bungkus or more needs two hours’ notice so the kitchen can cook a separate batch rather than raid the counter stock. Above thirty packets it stops being a takeaway order and becomes our Nasi Bungkusan catering package, which is cheaper per head, comes in insulated crates and is delivered to you.

Before you order

Radius, halal and dietary notes

Anything the apps cannot tell you, and a few things they get wrong. If your question is not here, the counter will answer it on WhatsApp faster than we can write it down.

Every question we are asked
Is Warung Pak Din halal certified?+

Yes. Our premise holds Sijil Pengesahan Halal Malaysia under the JAKIM food premise scheme, and the certificate is displayed at the front counter. No alcohol is used, sold or permitted anywhere on the property, and all meat and poultry come from JAKIM-recognised suppliers.

Do you have vegetarian or meat-free dishes?+

We do. Sayur lodeh, tempe goreng sambal, telur dadar kampung, roti canai with dhal and most of the kuih and desserts contain no meat or seafood. Tell the counter when you order and we will use sambal kicap in place of sambal belacan so a dish stays fully meat-free.

Can you cook without chilli, or without peanuts?+

Most gravies can be made kurang pedas or tanpa cili if you ask when ordering. Peanuts are harder: kuah kacang, kerisik and several sambal are ground on shared equipment, so we cannot promise a peanut-free kitchen. Please tell our staff about any allergy before you order.

How far do you deliver?+

GrabFood reaches roughly 10km around Simpang Ampat and foodpanda around 8km, which covers Batu Kawan, Bukit Tambun, Nibong Tebal and Sungai Bakap. Outside that, WhatsApp us a takeaway order and collect it at the counter.

Or simply come and sit down

Ninety-six seats, a surau at the back and roti canai that is only ever properly itself within a minute of leaving the griddle. Delivery pays the bills; the dining room is the point.
