Forty years of kenduri in Seberang Perai Selatan have taught us one thing: a majlis is judged on whether the food ran out. It never has. The same three generations who cook at the warung load the lorry, raise the canopies and stand behind the chafing dishes — we do not sub-contract a single pot.

Halal, and provable

JAKIM (Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia)

Every dish served at Warung Pak Din is halal. Our premise holds Sijil Pengesahan Halal Malaysia issued under the JAKIM scheme and administered in Pulau Pinang by Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Pulau Pinang. The certificate is displayed at the front counter.

No alcohol is used, sold or permitted on the premises. Meat and poultry are sourced only from JAKIM-recognised abattoirs and suppliers, and every delivery order leaves the counter sealed with a halal tamper tag.

A scanned copy of the sijil travels with every quotation, so you can forward it to your guests, your surau committee or a procurement team before you commit to anything.

How the food reaches the table

Any package can be served in any of these three ways, and the choice changes the feel of a majlis more than the menu does. If you are unsure, tell us the venue and the guest list and we will recommend one — usually the cheaper one.

Buffet

Bufet berdiri

Guests queue at a long line of chafing dishes and serve themselves. It is the fastest way to feed a big crowd, and the only sensible choice for a kenduri kahwin where people arrive across four hours rather than all at once. We run two lines so the queue never doubles back into the car park.

Best for 80 guests and above

Set Menu

Hidangan bersaji

Dishes are laid on each table in sets of five or ten before the guests sit down — the old kampung way, and still the most gracious for a doa selamat or an annual dinner. Everyone eats together, nobody queues, and the head table is served first.

Best for Seated majlis of 20 to 120

Bungkusan

Nasi kotak & bungkus

Wrapped individually in banana leaf and greaseproof paper, or boxed with a fork and a bottle of water. Packed into insulated crates, counted twice, delivered to one drop-off point. This is what we started with in 1984, and it is still what we pack most of.

How it works

From first message to clear-down

Five steps, no contract longer than a page, and one person on WhatsApp who answers for the whole booking.

  1. 01

    Tell us the date

    WhatsApp is fastest. Send the date, the venue and a rough head count — even a range is enough to start. If the date is already full we will say so in the first reply, not three weeks later.

  2. 02

    Quotation in one working day

    You receive an itemised quotation in Ringgit: per head, travel, crew and equipment listed separately, with a copy of our halal certificate attached so you can forward it on.

  3. 03

    Tasting, then deposit

    For Kenduri Warisan and Majlis Korporat we set a tasting for up to four people at the warung. The date is held once the deposit clears by bank transfer or DuitNow QR.

  4. 04

    Final count at 72 hours

    Confirm the head count three days before. We cook five per cent above the confirmed number at no extra charge, because the uncles always bring someone.

  5. 05

    We set up, serve and clear

    The crew arrives three hours ahead for a kenduri, ninety minutes for a smaller majlis. Canopies up, warmers lit, satay grill on. When the last guest leaves, everything goes back on the lorry with us.

The satay grill is lit at your venue, not ours. It is the single biggest reason a kenduri needs six weeks rather than two.

Ramadan, the fortnight after Hari Raya and the December wedding season fill months in advance. If your date falls in any of those, treat the notice periods above as a floor rather than a guide.

The small print

Deposits, counts and travel

  • Deposits are non-refundable within 7 days of the event, but may be transferred once to a new date.
  • Final head count is confirmed 72 hours before the event. We cook 5% above the confirmed count at no extra charge.
  • We travel free within 25km of Simpang Ampat. Beyond that, RM 2.50 per kilometre applies each way.
  • Details collected for a catering booking are handled under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.

Before you enquire

How much notice do you need for catering?+

Nasi bungkusan needs three days, a small majlis ten days, corporate functions three weeks, and a full kenduri at least six weeks because the satay and rendang are cooked on site. Deposits run from 20% to 50% depending on the package.

Will you cater outside Simpang Ampat?+

Yes. We travel free within 25km, which covers most of Seberang Perai Selatan and Tengah. Further afield we charge RM 2.50 per kilometre each way, and events on Penang island need an extra hour in the schedule for the bridge.
