Terms of Use

Terms covering bookings, deposits and this website.

Last updated 1 August 2026

01

What these terms cover

These terms cover three things: booking a table at Warung Pak Din, ordering catering from us, and using this website. They apply between you and Warung Pak Din Enterprise (SA0284119-K), of 128 Jalan Warisan, Tasek, 14100 Simpang Ampat, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia.

We have written them the way we would explain them to you across the counter, because a booking is a promise on both sides. You promise to turn up; we promise to have a table, a kitchen and a pot of rendang ready for you.

02

Booking a table

  • Every booking is made by talking to a person: on WhatsApp, or by calling the warung on +60 4-588 1984. The booking page on this website only helps you assemble the request — it checks the date against our service hours and then hands the finished message to WhatsApp or the phone. Nothing is submitted to us, or stored, by the website itself. We take bookings up to ninety days ahead.
  • Sending us that message is a request, not a confirmed table. Your booking exists only once someone from the warung has replied to you and said so. If you have not heard back within a few hours of opening time, message or call again rather than assume.
  • We hold a booked table for fifteen minutes past the booked time. After that, on a busy evening, we will give it to the next family in the queue and seat you as soon as something opens up.
  • Friday lunch has a break. The kitchen closes for Solat Jumaat and reopens in the afternoon, so we cannot take bookings in that window. Our contact page lists the exact times.
  • Last seating is one hour before closing, which is why the booking page stops offering times after that. Tell us if you are running late and we will do what we can.
  • The dining room seats 96. A party larger than ten may be seated across two adjoining tables, and we will tell you in advance if that is the case.
  • If your numbers change, tell us at least twenty-four hours ahead. A party that arrives much larger than booked may have to wait for space.
03

Cancellations and no-shows

  • For a table of fewer than ten, cancel whenever you need to. There is no charge. We only ask that you call, because an empty booked table on a Saturday night is a table we turned somebody else away from.
  • For a party of 10 or more, we ask for twenty-four hours notice to cancel or to cut the numbers down substantially.
  • A no-show is a booking that neither arrives nor calls. It costs us a table and, for a set menu, food already prepped.
  • If a party of ten or more no-shows, or cancels inside twenty-four hours, the deposit is not refunded.
  • After two no-shows we may ask for a deposit before confirming any future booking. We would much rather not, so please just call us.
  • If we have to cancel on you, for a power cut, a flood, a funeral in the family, or any reason at all, you get every ringgit back and our apology.
04

Deposits for large groups

  • A party of 10 or more pays a deposit of RM 10.00 per head to confirm the booking. It comes straight off your bill on the night.
  • Deposits are paid by DuitNow transfer or in cash at the counter. We never take card details over the phone, and nobody from the warung will ever ring you to ask for an OTP or a banking password.
  • A refunded deposit goes back to the account it came from, usually within three working days.
05

Catering bookings

  • A catering booking is confirmed when the deposit reaches us, not when the date is discussed. Until then the date is not held.
  • The balance is due on the day of the event, before the food is served, unless we have agreed invoice terms with you in writing.
  • Every package has its own minimum head count, deposit and notice period. Shorter notice is sometimes possible for a small order, but ask before you promise anyone.

Package terms

Kenduri Warisan
RM 24.00 per head, minimum 150 guests. 30% deposit to confirm, and at least 45 days notice before the event date.
Majlis Korporat
RM 38.00 per head, minimum 40 guests. 50% deposit to confirm, and at least 21 days notice before the event date.
Majlis Kecil
RM 28.00 per head, minimum 20 guests. 30% deposit to confirm, and at least 10 days notice before the event date.
Nasi Bungkusan
RM 14.00 per head, minimum 30 guests. 20% deposit to confirm, and at least 3 days notice before the event date.

The small print we always say out loud

  • Deposits are non-refundable within 7 days of the event, but may be transferred once to a new date.
  • Final head count is confirmed 72 hours before the event. We cook 5% above the confirmed count at no extra charge.
  • We travel free within 25km of Simpang Ampat. Beyond that, RM 2.50 per kilometre applies each way.
  • Details collected for a catering booking are handled under the Personal Data Protection Act 2010.
06

Prices, tax and payment

  • All prices are in Malaysian Ringgit.
  • Menu prices are what you pay for the food. Where service tax applies to your bill it is shown as a separate line at the rate set by the Royal Malaysian Customs Department, currently 8%. Catering quotations state plainly whether tax is included or added on top.
  • We do not add a service charge. Tips are welcome but never expected, and they are shared by the team.
  • Prices on this website are a guide. Market prices for fish, beef and chillies move, and so the price shown on the menu board and on your bill on the day is the one that applies. If a price has changed materially since you booked a set menu, we will tell you before you order.
  • Dishes sell out. The kitchen cooks a fixed quantity each morning and when a dish is finished it is finished, so please treat the online menu as what we usually serve rather than a guarantee for tonight.
  • We accept cash, DuitNow QR and the usual debit and credit cards. Nothing is charged through this website, and no payment details are entered on it.
07

Allergens and dietary needs

  • Our kitchen is not an allergen-free kitchen and we will not pretend otherwise. Peanuts, tree nuts, shellfish, belacan, fish sauce, egg, wheat, soy, sesame, dairy and coconut are all in daily use.
  • Woks, fryers, grills and chopping boards are shared. Even with care, we cannot rule out cross-contact between dishes, so we cannot promise any dish is completely free of a given ingredient.
  • If you have an allergy, tell us twice: once in the special requests box when you book, and again to your server when you sit down. The second one matters most, because it reaches the cook who is actually holding the ladle.
  • We will tell you honestly what goes into a dish. If we are not certain, we will say we are not certain, and we will suggest something we are sure about.
  • Ingredients and suppliers change. A dish that suited you last year may not suit you today, so please ask again each visit.
08

Halal assurance

Every dish served at Warung Pak Din is halal. Our premise holds Sijil Pengesahan Halal Malaysia issued under the JAKIM scheme and administered in Pulau Pinang by Jabatan Hal Ehwal Agama Islam Pulau Pinang. The certificate is displayed at the front counter.

No alcohol is used, sold or permitted on the premises. Meat and poultry are sourced only from JAKIM-recognised abattoirs and suppliers, and every delivery order leaves the counter sealed with a halal tamper tag.

Please do not bring outside food or drink into the warung. This is a halal premise and we cannot risk our certification.

09

Delivery and takeaway

  • Orders placed through GrabFood or foodpanda are governed by that platform's own terms and its own refund process. We cook the food; they handle the order, the payment and the rider.
  • Prices on a delivery platform may differ from the prices in the warung. The platforms add their own fees and commissions, and we have no control over them.
  • If food arrives cold, late or wrong, raise it in the app so the platform has a record, and tell us as well. We would rather hear about it and fix it than read about it a week later.
  • Direct takeaway ordered on WhatsApp is paid for at the counter on collection. Large bungkusan orders need notice, so please read the note on the ordering page before you plan around it.
10

In the warung

  • We ask everyone to be decent to our staff. We reserve the right to refuse service or to ask someone to leave if they are abusive, intoxicated or unsafe to others.
  • Smoking and vaping are not permitted in the dining area, which is the law for eateries in Malaysia. There is a designated area outside.
  • Children are very welcome and we have high chairs, but please keep them off the walkway between the kitchen and the pass, where staff carry hot dishes.
  • Please look after your belongings. We will always help you look for something left behind, and we keep found items for thirty days, but we cannot take responsibility for lost property.
  • Photography for your own use is fine and we are flattered. Ask before you photograph other guests or our team, and ask the manager first if you are filming commercially.
11

Using this website

  • The words, recipes descriptions, photographs and design on this site belong to us. You are welcome to share a link or a screenshot. Please do not reproduce our content commercially or pass it off as your own.
  • We keep this site as accurate as we can, but opening hours shift during Ramadan and the Raya period, and menu availability changes daily. When the website and the counter disagree, the counter is right.
  • Links out to delivery partners, maps and our social accounts are for convenience. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for what they do.
  • Do not attempt to disrupt the site, scrape it wholesale, or send us false bookings. Fake reservations take a real table away from a real family.
12

Responsibility and the law that applies

  • Nothing in these terms limits any right you have under Malaysian consumer protection law, and nothing here excludes our responsibility for death or personal injury caused by our own negligence.
  • Beyond that, our responsibility for a booking is limited to the value of the booking itself, and for a catering job to the value of that job.
  • These terms are governed by Malaysian law, and the courts of Pulau Pinang have jurisdiction over any dispute we cannot settle between us over a pot of teh tarik first.
13

Changes and questions

We may update these terms. The version that applies to your booking is the one published on the day you booked, and the date at the top of this page tells you when we last revised it.

Questions about anything here go to hello@warungpakdin.com or +60 4-588 1984. Catering questions are quicker on katering@warungpakdin.com or +60 12-488 1985.

A plain note

This is the warung's own house policy, written in plain English by the family who run it. It sets out how we do things and what you can expect from us. It is not legal advice, and it does not take away any right you already have under Malaysian law.

If anything here is unclear, please just ask. Call +60 4-588 1984, email hello@warungpakdin.com, or speak to whoever is at the front counter.
